Week 10 Devotional

Today's devotion was about a mother whose son was going to work as a firefighter.  The mom told the son that he was just following his friend.  The son left the house angry.  His friend told him to put on his seat belt and he almost didn't... at the very last possible minute he did and was saved from death.  The friend that was driving hit a tree head on.

The mom had prayed that she see the friend was a good friend and his influence on her son was positive.  She finally did see that her son wouldn't have put on his seat belt if the friend hadn't told him to.

To me, this is important.  As a mother, a wife, and all of my other roles, I always think I know best.  The truth is, I don't.  God does.  The son that was following his lifelong best friend was actually a good thing.  I can see how the mom would want her son to be his own man, but in this case he needed to follow.

I try to do my own thing.  I think I am pretty independant.  I want my son to be that way too.  I just have to look around and see that really, I don't know best.

We will see how this week plays out.
